08/16/04 - Wilson Racquet Sports continues as the #1 string brand in the U.S., according to the latest Sports Marketing Survey of all string brands - through the first 6 months of 2004. Wilson also stood out as having four of the five top selling strings in the Unites States with a dominant market share in the $10 and over premium string market.
In playtests conducted by the United States Racquet Stringers Association (USRSA), Wilson’s NXT OS was the #1 rated string in playability, and received the highest rating ever in terms of overall results in USRSA history, which has included 81 published playtests.
Despite the development of NXT OS for oversized rackets, it summoned more of a mass appeal during playtests, according to results published in Racquet Sports Industry (RSI).
“Given the response from our playtesters, Wilson has a hit on their hands with the NXT OS, and three-quarters of our playtesters were not even in Wilson’s target audience for this string,” writes Greg Raven, Associate Editor of RSI.
