ASBA Elects New Officers and Directors

12/08/04 - The American Sports Builders Association (ASBA), the national organization for builders and suppliers of materials for tennis courts, running tracks, synthetic turf fields and indoor and outdoor synthetic sports surfaces, has announced the election of its new officers and directors. Those elected took office immediately following the Technical Meeting of the Association, held in December 2004 in New Orleans, LA.
David Marsden, CTCB, of Boston Tennis Court Construction Company (Hanover, MA) was re-elected to the office of Chairman of the Association. A graduate of Babson College with a BSBA in Management, Marsden is a longtime active member of the Association. In addition to multiple terms as Tennis Division President, he has been a speaker at numerous Technical Meetings and served as the Tennis Certification Committee Chair from 1997-2000. He also served on the Tennis Certification Exam Development Committee and was extensively involved in developing the new CTCB exam. He has also worked on the Guideline Review Committee and has represented the Association at gatherings of other racquet sports groups on both the national and international level.
Elected to the office of Secretary-Treasurer of the Association was George Todd, Jr., CTCB. Todd, the President of Welch Tennis Courts located in Sun City, FL, previously served on the board as a Builder Director. He has held the position of Chairman of the Membership Quality Committee, and has led sessions at meetings dealing with this topic. He attended Stetson University and the University of South Florida, majoring in Business Administration. His career history includes time spent as a Division Manager with Speedling, Inc. and as Vice President at Todd International and Hydro Grid Tennis, Inc. He is a Certified Tennis Court Builder (CTCB).
Alex Levitsky, RA, PP is the Association’s new Professional Division President. Levitsky is a graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelors degree in Architecture. He is both a registered architect and a professional planner and is the Principal of Global Sports & Tennis Design Group. Levitsky has been a speaker at both Technical and Winter Meetings and is serving as a member of the USTA National Technical Committee. He also serves on the Joint Editorial Board in revising Tennis Courts: A Construction and Maintenance Manual, and he completed all the drawings for the most recent edition.
Re-elected to the position of Indoor Division President was Brion Rittenberry. Rittenberry is President and CEO of Kiefer Specialty Flooring, Inc. located in Zion, IL. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University, where he majored in Business Management. Rittenberry has been with Kiefer Specialty Flooring for over 20 years. As the first person elected to lead the Association’s new Indoor Division, he has contributed not only to the development of the membership group, but to its place in the Association. He was instrumental in the creation of new guidelines and position papers for the Indoor Division and continues to take an active role in the evolution of the market.
ASBA's new Track Division president is Sam Fisher, CTB. Fisher is the President of Fisher Tracks, Inc. located in Boone, IA. He graduated from the University of Washington and majored in business with a minor in economics and accounting. Currently, he is serving as Chairman of the Interassociation Committee for track and leads the delegation which meets with the track governing bodies each year. He also served on the Track Certification Exam Development Committee and was extensively involved in developing the new CTB exam. He has also been actively involved in the re-write of the Running Tracks: A Construction and Maintenance Manual and Track Guidelines.
Randy Futty joins the Board of Directors this year as one of the elected representatives of the Associate/Affiliate Division. Futty, the National Sales Manager for Lee Tennis in Charlottesville, VA, has previously served the Association as a speaker at Technical Meetings and as Chairman of the Awards Committee. Another new member of the Board this year is Mike Vinton, CTCB of Vasco Asphalt, who will represent the Builders Division. Vinton has been a speaker at Technical Meetings and has served on the Association’s Certification Committee as well as acting as co-chairman of its Program Committee.
Remaining on the Board of Directors are Associate/Affiliate Division President Bruce Frasure (LSI Courtsider Sports Lighting, Cincinnati, OH), Tennis Division President Gerry Wright, CTCB (Court One, Raleigh, NC), and Board of Directors members Ron Nemeth, CTB (Conica Technik Div. of MB Schweiz AG, New Port Richey, FL), David Nielsen (Leslie Coatings, Inc, Indianapolis, IN), Gerald Perry, CTCB (Gerald Perry Tennis Courts, Springfield, MO), John Schedler, CTB (FieldTurf Mid-America, LLC, St. Louis, MO),
