06/04/04 - Hilton Head Island, SC - - If you've updated your tennis racquet and don't know what to do with your old one, or if you have one collecting dust in the garage, please consider donating it to the Professional Tennis Registry's Racquet Roundup.

Sponsored by the PTR Foundation, Racquet Roundup was designed to collect tennis racquets for distribution to organizations that support the less fortunate. With strings donated by Gamma, the PTR Foundation restrings and regrips the racquets before distribution them.

"With the great resurgence in the popularity of tennis, we are in desperate need of racquets," said Julie Jilly, Vice President of Operations for the PTR. "Last year, one of our members created a very successful Racquet Roundup Program in their local school. I would be happy to work with anyone who wants to conduct such a program. Even if they need restringing, the PTR Foundation will gladly take racquets off your hands and put them to good use in the hands of someone less fortunate."

To donate used racquets, a contributor may either ship them to or drop them off at PTR Headquarters, next to Crowne Plaza, in Shipyard Plantation on Hilton Head Island. Monetary donations may be made payable to the PTR Foundation and sent to PTR Headquarters at P.O. Box 4739, Hilton Head Island, SC 29938.

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 11,000 members in 124 countries It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and serving tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
