Van der Meer Earns Honorary Doctorate

10/31/04 - Dennis Van der Meer, founder and president of Professional Tennis Registry, and the Van der Meer TennisUniversity, was awarded an honorary doctorate of science degree from the University of Greenwich, England. The graduation and award ceremony took place in the Old Royal Naval College’s famed Chapel of St. Peter and St. Paul. on Friday, October 29. The Greenwich University chancellor, Lord Holme of Cheltenham, presided, with speeches from the vice chancellor, Baroness Blackstone, and an introduction from Professor Mark Cross. Pat Van der Meer, Clive Carrigan, PTR/UK Director, and Dr. Mark Goss-Sampson from the University’s Centre for Sport and Exercise Sciences were among those in attendance to celebrate Van der Meer’s lifetime contributions to the sport of tennis.
