09/07/04 - The Tennis Industry Association (TIA) announced today the launch of 6 new TIA products and services that are available to TIA Members. At the same time, the TIA has added new Membership Levels for Individuals, Facilities and Retailers.
Jim Baugh, President of the TIA explains. “The TIA is reaching out to the entire industry …retailers, pros, facility operators as well as our manufacturers and associations. But, to be successful, we know we must add value. And, our new products do this. We have added new services and programs to increase our knowledge base, increase profitability, increase sales, or increase participation. Any part of the industry will see the value of being a Member of TIA.”
“First, we are so focused on growing the game. You know this from our Tennis Welcome Center initiative but you will see much more. We are the research source for our sport. And, we have added new reports here too. We have also added new features and programs to help retailers, pros and facility operators increase their profitability”
The new TIA programs and services:
1. TennisConnect.org – this is a new software program that is a must for facility operators who want to increase play frequency by “connecting with their players using technology”. Website, on line registration, email capability, and player matching are just a few of the just a few of the features you will find on TennisConnect.org.
2. TennisWire.org -the place for news in our industry. TennisWire.org org marks the first online searchable database of tennis industry information for the media and consumers. The site publishes the latest press releases from TIA member companies such as Wilson Sporting Goods, HEAD/Penn Racquet Sports, Prince Tennis, the USTA, ATP, WTA and others.
3. TIA Merchant Card Services – any retailer has to look at this! What fees are you paying to process your VISA or MasterCard? The TIA has negotiated with one of the Premier Bank Card Service companies for rates which could reduce your costs and increase your profitability.
4. Advantage Card – would you like discounts on flights, hotels, car rentals, or at your local favorite restaurants? Just by becoming a TIA Individual Member, you can receive the TIA Advantage Card and benefits.
5. TIA “Cost of Doing Business Surveys” – Facilities and Retailers can see how their peers are running their businesses. Over 700 tennis facilities have given the TIA their economic and operations model. Compare your facility to others throughout the country. Available now for Facility Operators and this fall for retailers.
6. Cardio Tennis – Single, Doubles, Cardio Tennis??? YES! Cardio Tennis. The TIA and the USTA will be launching a new form of tennis focused on Fitness. This new initiative will not only pump up your heart rate…it will pump up participation. More information will be available later this year.
These new products and programs are part of the new TIA Membership program. “We have added 3 new levels of membership. First, we have individual memberships. For $100, any individual can join the TIA and support our grassroots programs. Plus, they will get some of the benefits mentioned above such as the TIA Merchant Card Service. Next, we have a Retailer and Facility Memberships which offer more benefits. Then, we have the ultimate Facility Membership Plus+ level that includes TennisConnect.org. We know we must have real values for all our members. And, our new products do this!” says Baugh.
