08/08/05 - Gamma Sports, North American distributor of Fischer Racquets, today announced the new Fischer racquet line featuring Magnetic Speed Technology. Both known for their innovative background and technological successes, Gamma and Fischer joined forces in 2002 to provide ‘the right string for the right racquet.’
Gamma will be introducing the new Magnetic Speed Technology beginning in August 2005 at the US Open, with a special consumer promotion featuring a free Fischer M-Speed micro fiber shirt, hat, lanyard, and key chain. The M-Speed line will feature two initial racquets with Magnetic Speed Technology. For the first time, Fischer is offering two head size options for the tournament player or the ambitious recreational player. The M Pro No. One 98 (98 sq. inch head) and the M Pro No. One 105 (105 sq. inch head) contain Magnetic Speed technology which will help players generate more pace by utilizing basic physics logic.
Normally, when the ball impacts the string bed the racquet frame bows in on both sides, temporarily deforming the racquet. Most frames regain their shape soon after the ball leaves the strings. With Magnetic Speed, the frame reverts back to its original shape faster, creating a catapult effect that generates more pace than with traditional frames. Unipolar magnets placed on opposite sides of the head repel each other, snapping the frame back into its original shape at a much faster rate. M-Speed Technology helps the player generate more power than could be generated from competitor frames while maintaining playability and feel. Pros playing with the racquets will include; ATP pros Albert Costa, Dominik Hrbaty, Karol Beck, Giorgio Galimberti, and WTA pros Vera Zvonareva and Jessica Kirkland. Fischer Racquets featuring Magnetic Speed Technology will be available through Gamma Sports in August 2005.
