Van der Meer Receives USTA Faculty Emeritus Award

08/29/05 - On Saturday August 27, after devoting the day on court to Arthur Ashe Kids Day, Dennis Van der Meer was presented with the inaugural USTA Faculty Emeritus Award by the United States Tennis Association president, Franklin Johnson at the USTA Tennis Teacher's Conference.

This award was presented in recognition of Van der Meer's 35 consecutive years (from its inception) giving presentations to attendees of the conference.

The TTC was conceived and brought to fruition largely through the efforts of Skip Hartman and the late Eve Kraft. Van der Meer continues to give his time freely through the years because of his strong commitment to education of teaching professionals, and his belief in sharing ideas and programs for the growth and betterment of the sport he loves so dearly.

Van der Meer is the President and Founder of Professional Tennis Registry. PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 11,500 members in 123 countries It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
