06/14/05 - Prince Sports, renown for its expertise in racquet sports technology and innovation, is introducing a new, premium tennis ball – the Prince Tour ball. The product line extension is a natural progression considering the company’s origins as a tennis ball machine manufacturer. The Prince Tour ball is a premium grade, consistent, long-lasting tennis ball, which will be available through limited distribution beginning July 2005.
Prince, an industry leader in the development of performance sports equipment, revolutionized the game with the introduction of “Oversize” racquets in the mid ‘70’s, “Longbody” racquets in the mid 80’s and O3-engineered racquets earlier this year. Prince’s extensive equipment collection also includes, footwear, apparel, strings, accessories and court equipment, but this marks the company’s first launch into the tennis ball category.
“For years, Prince has been an industry leader in bringing quality tennis equipment to the game,” said Jay Simmons, Category Director of Tennis Balls & Recreational Racquets at Prince. “This year we are embarking on a new initiative, our first tennis ball, and have developed the kind of premium product that you would expect from Prince.”
Prince Tour Construction
The Prince Tour is constructed of top quality materials. The ball incorporates a durable hi-vis woven felt for optimal visibility and a longer-lasting, dynamic core for extended play. The balls are hand-covered for consistent quality. The new Tour ball is USTA-approved and designed for top players who demand high quality, performance products.
The new Tour ball is offered in different felt types that are engineered for different play characteristics and court surfaces. The Tour ball is offered in Extra Duty felt for hard court use, Regular Duty felt for soft court use, and a High Altitude Extra Duty felt for areas above 3,500 feet.
