03/01/05 - PHOENIX – HEAD Racquet Sports introduces Flexpoint, a new tennis racquet technology that offers players of all levels ultimate control with no loss of power. By physically altering the construction of the racquet frame, HEAD has created a racquet that flexes in a new and revolutionary way.

Two small holes located at the three o’clock and nine o’clock positions of the frame are cradled within dimples to create a precisely engineered “flexpoint” when the ball makes contact with the strings. Extensive laboratory tests showed that these two holes work together to control the power and add sectional flexibility.

Since the beginning of tennis, every racquet has flexed in the same way on ball impact. In addition, racquets have been made stiffer to gain power, but they ultimately lose control in the process. HEAD’s new Flexpoint racquets cup the ball to ensure it leaves the strings at exactly the angle intended. This produces control like never before, but with no loss of power.

“HEAD’s unique approach to technology sets us apart in the industry,” said Johan Eliasch, CEO of HEAD N.V. “Flexpoint is a direct result of studying a racquet’s physical reaction to ball impact. It’s one thing to incorporate the latest technology into a sports product; it is another to analyze the sport and specific player’s needs to drive the technology.”

HEAD will introduce two racquets in the Flexpoint line that will be available in pro/specialty and sporting goods stores in the spring of 2005.

Flexpoint 6
• Added control in a proven power racquet. Designed for players with a moderate swing style.
• Available in two head sizes: Mid Plus (102 sq. in.) and Oversize (112 sq. in.).
• SRP: $250.00

Flexpoint Radical
• Hottest new racquet on tour. Andre Agassi and Juan Carlos Ferrero’s new weapon of choice. Designed for players with a long, fast swing.
• Available in three head sizes: Oversize (107 sq. in.), Mid Plus (98 sq. in.) and Mid Plus Tour (100 sq. in.).
• SRP: $200.00

HEAD professional players, Andre Agassi and Juan Carlos Ferrero, were instrumental throughout the development process and their feedback was incredibly valuable in constructing and designing the new racquets. Both champion players reported very positive feedback.

“HEAD Flexpoint exceeded all my expectations,” said Agassi. “The power is incredible and I still have better control over the ball – even in extreme situations.”

Ferrero, HEAD’s newest professional player, had similar feedback: “I never thought that two small holes could change everything, but it’s true. Every ball contact feels stable and more solid.”

Flexpoint racquets are powered by Liquidmetal technology, the only material that utilizes all the energy your swing generates.
