10/07/05 - chicago—Wilson Racquet Sports is reaching out to the high school tennis community by launching the new “Coaches for Life” instructional newsletter, sponsoring the National High School Tennis Coach of the Year Award and creating statewide ball adoption programs for 30 state tennis championships.

Wilson is providing tennis tips to more than 6,000 high school coaches nationwide with a “Coaches for Life” quarterly newsletter, which offers coaching strategies, player tips and equipment guidelines. Sample articles include tips on restringing rackets, mental toughness, and information on how to help high school players apply for college tennis scholarships. The newsletter is comprised of pieces written by members of Wilson’s Advisory Staff, a group of more than 3,500 tennis professionals nationwide.

Wilson Racquet Sports also recently signed on as the official sporting goods sponsor of The National High School Tennis Coach of the Year Award, presented by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association (NHSACA). The award honors the top high school tennis instructor in the nation and was presented to Kirk Price from Cherry Creek High School in Colorado at the NHSACA national convention in Florida in June. The NHSACA is a 50,000-member organization of high school coaches and athletic directors from all sports focused on educating, recognizing and supporting fellow high school coaches.

In keeping with Wilson’s commitment to inform, educate, and support high school coaches, Wilson also serves as a resource to provide speakers for high school association workshops and conferences throughout the country.

“Wilson is committed to using our resources to reach out to high school players and coaches and make sure they have the proper tools, information and equipment to teach the sport and continue to grow the game of tennis,” James Burda, Manager of US Promotions for Wilson, said.
