08/08/06 - Bordentown, NJ – The Prince O3 White put a firm grip on the No. 1 spot in the Hot New Racquets categories in 2Q 2006 according to the Sports Marketing Surveys/Tennis Industry Association Specialty Store Retail Audit. In addition, the Prince brand has 25.6 percent of the total dollar share year-to-date.
In addition to the O3 White at No. 1, Prince O3 racquets comprise the top four Combined Head Size Hot New Racquets, ranked by year-to-date dollar sales. The racquets include O3 White, O3 Hybrid Hornet, O3 Blue and O3 Hybrid Shark, which hold a combined 10.8 percent dollar share in the category. Prince also has seven racquets in the top 13 on the Combined Head Size Best Sellers list with O3 White at No. 2, O3 Hybrid Hornet at No. 4, O3 Blue at No. 7, O3 Tour at No. 9, O3 Silver at No. 10, O3 Hybrid Shark at No. 12 and O3 Red at No. 13.
According to SMS/TIA, Prince also has seven of the top 15 year-to-date Best Sellers, including four racquets in the top seven. O3 White is quickly gaining on competitors, posting a 3.7 percent dollar share and taking over the No. 2 ranking. On the same list, O3 Blue moved up to No. 4, while O3 Silver and O3 Red rank No. 6 and No. 7, respectively.
"O3 White continues to build momentum as the preferred players' racquet because of the O3 Technology benefits,” said Doug Fonte, president Prince U.S. “The continuing success of O3 Technology confirms Prince's commitment to engineer the best performance equipment and footwear for those who enjoy the great game of tennis."
More than 75 ATP and WTA players currently play O3 Technology, and Team Prince players have 112 tournament wins with O3. The O3 line has an unprecedented conversion rate – 56 percent of touring professionals who try O3 Technology make the switch. Team Prince players such as Jelena Jankovic switched to O3 Technology from a competitor’s brand and shot up the WTA rankings to No. 29 in 2006. Nikolay Davydenko has won three tournaments since switching to the O3 Tour, Paul Goldstein (O3 Tour) has been a finalist four times, and Marion Bartoli has won three tournaments with the O3 Red.
