08/24/06 - Bordentown, NJ–It has been a big week for Sam Querrey and his new Prince Tennis family. Querrey, the 6’6’’ teenager from Thousand Oakes, Calif., has agreed to a multi-year endorsement deal with Prince and been awarded a wild card spot in the 2006 US Open by the USTA. The future is now for one of America’s brightest new tennis stars.

Querrey, who began the year ranked No. 756, has risen to No. 177, and tennis experts all agree the ascension is just beginning. Querrey showed the tennis world a glimpse of what is to come recently by serving up 11 aces on the way to upsetting veteran Spaniard Alberto Martin in the first round of the Pilot Pen Tennis Open in New Haven.

“I am excited to continue my relationship with Prince as I make the transition to the professional tour,” Querrey said. “Prince has supported me throughout my junior career and I look forward to our new long term partnership.”

Querrey currently plays the Prince Diablo, but will make the switch to the new Prince O3 Hybrid Tour after the U.S. Open. More than 50 percent of professional tennis players who have play-tested Prince’s O3 Technology have made the switch with tremendous results.

“We are excited to be partners with Sam as he continues to grow into a world-class performer,” said Linda Glassel, Prince VP of Marketing. “We are committed to the next generation of tennis players and we look forward to working with the best new talent in helping elevate tennis’ visibility on a global scale.”

Querrey has won two singles titles in his first three events played since turning pro in June, beginning with a victory at his pro debut at a challenger tournament in Yuba City, Calif. He also won a challenger tournament in Winnetka, Ill., in July before winning first round matches in consecutive ATP events in Newport, Indianapolis and Los Angeles.

Querrey is represented by SFX Sports Group.
