08/31/06 - Bordentown, NJ – Ribbons in a bright shade of yellow can be seen in many towns across the United States – on trees, fences and in store windows. That color, used to symbolize the hope of a safe return of American military personnel, will now be seen on a tennis racquet.
Today, Prince is proud to launch the O3 Citron, a limited-edition racquet made in the same shade of yellow to benefit the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Foundation.
In honor of the November 11 Veterans Day holiday and the sacrifice men and women in the Armed Forces make for America, Prince will donate a portion of net sales from every O3 Citron to the VFW Foundation. That portion will go directly to military families in need through the VFW’s Unmet Needs Program and the National Veterans Service Program.
“We are proud of the men and women who put their lives on the line to protect the rights and freedoms of our country,” said Charlie Osborn, VP of Sales at Prince Sports. “By forming this partnership, we want to give back during a time when the Armed Forces need our support the most.”
Only 2,400 limited-edition O3 Citron racquets will be available for purchase at a suggested retail price of $249.99. The same innovation and technology created for the O3 Original Series is packed into the O3 Citron, creating a racquet that gives players a versatile blend of speed, power, control and maneuverability on the court. Beginning October 6, the racquets can be purchased at specialty tennis retail stores nationwide and through the VFW Foundation Web site, vfwfoundation.org.
“The O3 Citron is a symbol of the recreational freedoms that we are grateful to have,” said VFW Commander-in-Chief Gary Kurpius. “The VFW is proud to partner with Prince, a company that recognizes and supports our mission whole-heartedly. Hundreds of veterans, soldiers and their families will receive assistance for their basic needs – medical bills, living expenses, and child care – thanks to this generous donation by Prince.”
