12/14/06 - Bordentown, NJ – Prince Tennis is proud to announce that the O³ Hybrid Hornet has won the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design 2006 GOOD DESIGN Award.

The GOOD DESIGN Award is the second major award for the O³ Hybrid Hornet after being named Tennis Magazine’s Editor’s Choice for 2006. The award also marks the fourth national award for Prince’s O³ Technology. Earlier in 2006, O³ Technology was given an Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA) Bronze by the Industrial Designers Association of America (IDSA) and in 2005, O³ Technology received the Popular Science “Best of What’s New” Award. The O³ Silver was named Tennis Magazine’s Editor’s Choice in 2005.

“We are truly honored to receive such a distinguished award from The Chicago Athenaeum, an organization with a time-honored commitment to design and aesthetics,” said Linda Glassel, VP of Marketing and Communications at Prince Sports. “The O³ Technology platform has redefined our business and is being recognized among the most creative, innovative products in the world. The award is a testament to Roberto Gazzara and our stellar design team.”

GOOD DESIGN is the oldest and most prestigious award for design in the United States. Founded in Chicago in 1950 by Edgar J. Kaufmann, Jr., the award committee met last month to determine winners from hundreds of product submissions globally. For more information about the GOOD DESIGN Award, visit www.chi-athenaeum.org. Awards winners will be posted on December 15, 2006.

About O³ Technology and the O³ Hybrid Hornet

Prince revolutionized the game of tennis by introducing award-winning O³ Engineered Technology in 2005. Prince re-engineered ordinary pin-sized string holes into revolutionary giant O-Ports, providing total string freedom for a livelier response across the entire string bed. This expanded the conventional sweet spot up to 54 percent, turning it into a Sweet Zone, without enlarging the racquet head, increasing the racquet’s length or adding weight to the frame.

Combining the best of ordinary racquet technology with O³ Engineering, O³ Hybrid racquets provide improved performance for all levels of play. O³ Hybrid Hornet is the perfect racquet for aspiring competitive players, featuring O-Ports at 6 and 12 o’clock on the frame and giving players increased racquet head speed and a sweet spot that is up to 54 percent larger than traditional racquets.
