07/10/06 - Ponte Vedra Beach and St. Petersburg, Fla. – DEUCE Magazine, a jointly produced publication from the ATP and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, is now available at summer North America tournaments and online at ATPtennis.com and SonyEricssonWTATour.com. The annual publication highlights “The Greatest Road Trip in Sports” and has been released to coincide with the official 2006 US Open Series launch tomorrow in New York City.
The 2006 edition of DEUCE provides an in-depth look at the 10 tournaments that comprise the US Open Series, with tennis’ numerous personalities – including Andy Roddick, Kim Clijsters and Bud Collins – discussing what makes each event special. The magazine also includes analysis of the Roger Federer-Rafael Nadal rivalry, profiles on Nadia Petrova and Nicole Vaidisova, and a personal tour of New Haven by James Blake. In a telling tribute, Justin Gimelstob provides his take on tennis legend Andre Agassi, who will retire following the US Open.
On Tuesday, DEUCE cover subjects Blake and Venus Williams will spend the day with media in New York City to promote the US Open Series launch. In the evening, the American stars will attend a cocktail party celebrating the launch, held at the exclusive and popular lounge Manor and hosted by the USTA, ATP and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.
In the lead-up to the US Open, Blake and Williams will join the stars of the men’s and women’s circuits in the fight for valuable US Open Series Lever 2000 Challenge points. The top three finishers in the Challenge will earn extra prize money based on their results at the last Grand Slam event of the season. The US Open Series officially gets underway next week for the ATP at the RCA Championships in Indianapolis, and for the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour on July 24 at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford, California.
After several successful years as the Official Publication of the ATP, DEUCE Magazine followed the lead of other “One Game” initiatives by joining forces with the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour to better serve fans of professional tennis. It will be distributed at all North American ATP and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour tournaments during the summer.
The annual, published in partnership with Portland, Oregon-based Skies America International Publishing & Communications, can also be purchased at specialty tennis retailers around the country, select retail shops and online at ATPtennis.com and SonyEricssonWTATour.com.
