07/12/06 - The fastest-growing name in tennis apparel is joining the most innovative program in tennis. Bälle de Mätch, the stylish label from southern California, proudly announces its new partnership with World TeamTennis (WTT) as the official apparel of the WTT recreational and junior leagues. Starting in 2007 Bälle de Mätch will also be a sponsor of the 12-city WTT Professional League.

With more and more team endorsements and contracts, Bälle de Mätch is on track to become a familiar name in the uniform business. Bälle de Mätch will supply the uniforms for tournament staffing, ball kids, league directors, and WTT staff.

“Billie Jean King is one of the most dynamic leaders and a true innovator for the sport,” said John Embree, Bälle de Mätch co-owner and partner. “I’ve always been a huge fan of hers and am so impressed by what she has done for the game and what World TeamTennis has meant to the industry. Bälle de Mätch is honored to be in a position to partner with a program that has been so important to tennis.”

The unique, co-ed team concept for WTT was created in the early 1970’s by League co-founders Billie Jean King and Larry King. Now in its 31st year of play, World TeamTennis’ fast-paced match format features teams comprised of two men, two women and a coach playing one set each of men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles. The Pro League features the biggest names in tennis competing for three weeks in the summer. The 2006 season runs July 6-26 with the top two teams from the Eastern Conference and the top two from the Western Conference advancing to the WTT Finals, July 28-30 in Newport Beach, Calif.

“Bälle de Mätch is always on the leading edge of tennis apparel design and their edgy, non-traditional look fits in well with WTT’s unique brand of tennis,” said WTT CEO/Commissioner Ilana Kloss.

In 1985, the WTT Recreational League program debuted featuring year-round leagues that have provided playing opportunities for more than 435,000 tennis players of all ages and abilities across the United States. WTT Recreational Leagues run year-round at public parks, tennis clubs, schools, college campuses, military bases, corporations, camps, residential communities and tennis facilities in more than 1,000 U.S. cities. The fast-paced format features co-ed teams competing in men's and women's doubles, men's and women's singles and mixed doubles and every game counts toward the teams final score. Players have an opportunity to qualify for WTT National Qualifiers and the National Championship. For more on WTT, visit www.WTT.com.
