06/06/06 - Babolat announced the launch of the new Pure Drive racquet equipped with its latest exclusive Babolat technology: the Cortex System.

Fans of the Pure Drive will discover that this new racquet has the same power and maneuverability that have made it the most successful racquet in the United States. The Pure Drive now features the exclusive Babolat Cortex System technology that gives players a purer feel of the ball by filtering unnecessary vibrations. And the new modern design is sure to get noticed on the court!

Launched in 1994, the Pure Drive quickly became the emblematic model of Babolat. “When the Pure Drive debuted, it got a lot of attention for having features unlike any other racquet in competition…it was lightweight, powerful, had the elliptic beam, and of course the “blue color” with the white “Double Line” on the racquet frame, says Max Brownlee, General Manager of Babolat USA. “It has since been enhanced with the latest Babolat technologies including the Woofer in 1999 and the Cortex System today.”

“Big Blue”, as it is affectionately called, was named “Racquet of the Decade” by Tennis magazine in 2005, and has been the best selling racquet in tennis and pro specialty stores in the U.S. market for 3 consecutive years.

Cortex System
The Cortex System is the first technology customized to filter different vibrations. This exclusive Babolat material has the ability to filter and dampen. The handle and the frame of the racquet are linked by one interface in the C.D.S. (Cortex Dampening System), which allows the filter to absorb the unnecessary vibrations for a purer feel.
