06/15/06 - Babolat announces the launch of its newest innovation, Smart Grip, the first racquet handle shaped for your hand.

Babolat invented this revolutionary new handle so that your entire hand is in contact with the grip. Babolat Smart Grip technology provides three main benefits:
* More power: less effort is needed when hitting the ball.
* More control: reduced handle twist when striking the ball, especially on two-hand backhands and volleys.
* More comfort: a truly natural grip delivering significant reduction of fatigue and stress points on the hand.

“Every part of the tennis racquet has evolved over time - the materials, the shape and size of the racquet head, and even the length of the handle – except the shape of the handle,” says Max Brownlee, General Manager of Babolat USA. “This is surprising because all players, regardless of their skill level, consider the racquet as a natural extension of their arm, yet nothing had been done to improve the handle until now. In keeping with the company’s passion for innovation, Babolat had the foresight to develop the first ergonomic grip.”

Starting in June, the Smart Grip is being introduced on two Babolat racquets: Aero Blast and Drive Z OS. These racquets are also equipped with Babolat’s new Cortex System that filters out and dampens vibrations interfering with feel, for maximum comfort.
