06/26/06 - Chicago--Wilson Racquet Sports, the No. 1 brand in tennis, has partnered with RPNY Tennis to provide stringing services for select ATP and WTA tournaments throughout 2006. The partnership with RPNY, which began in March as the exclusive stringer at the Tennis Channel Open, extends to the 2006 Wimbledon Championships as the official stringer for all Wilson and Luxilon players at the tournament.
RPNY Tennis, LLC, based in New York, specializes in racquet stringing and customizing for both top professional tennis players and amateurs. At Wimbledon, RPNY and Wilson will have four Tour stringers to help to service the needs of Wilson and Luxilon athletes.
As part of Wilson’s new strategic direction to increase its presence worldwide at professional and amateur tennis tournaments, Wilson will also be the official stringer for the 2006 US Open, serving as the on-site stringer for all competitors. RPNY will also assist Wilson in providing stringing services for all US Open players, which equates to approximately 3,000 rackets strung during the three weeks of the event.
“The staff at RPNY are among the best in the industry,” Ron Rocchi, Tour Services Manager for Wilson Racquet Sports, said. “Their contributions at Wimbledon and the US Open will help ensure our athletes’ needs are attended to and their equipment is performing at its best.”
