03/01/06 - Chicago — Wilson Racquet Sports, the No. 1 brand in tennis, was recently awarded “Editor’s Choice” from Tennis Magazine for the Wildcard shoe. The Wildcard, part of Wilson’s new Evolution line designed to meet the specific needs of players as their game evolves, was recognized by Tennis Magazine as “hands-down the most comfortable shoe our female playtesters wore.”
The Wildcard, which hit retailers earlier this month, is designed for intermediate players who require more centralized cushioning, support and stability to compensate for improved footwork and development of an all-around game. The Wildcard features a centrally positioned ventilated stable wrap and extended toe drag for aggressive play.
The April 2006 issue of Tennis Magazine named the Wildcard “Editor’s Choice” calling it “appropriate for players who aren't too aggressive on the court," and “hands-down the most comfortable shoe our female playtesters wore.”
The Evolution footwear line includes eight styles engineered to fit the body mechanics and court style of beginning, intermediate and advanced players. Wilson developed the Evolution line based on the specific body mechanics and needs of players based on their skill level taking into account six principles: cushioning, stability, breathability, lightweight, toe drag, and outsole radius.
“Evolution footwear offers incredible performance on the court in a system that complements your game no matter what your level of play,” Todd Fisher, global director of footwear for Wilson Sporting Goods, said. “The Wildcard is low-to-the-ground, supportive and solid shoe for intermediate players.”
The Wildcard is available for men and women and retails for $85. Wilson’s Evolution line features a variety of styles and colors for men, women and juniors that range from $30 to $130 and are available at sporting goods and tennis specialty stores nationwide beginning this month.
