03/20/06 - Hilton Head Island, SC – – Professional Tennis Registry announced the expansion of its partnership agreement with Gamma Sports to include the new Gamma ProTour as the official tennis ball of PTR. The three year ball sponsorship begins January 2006, and will provide PTR members with special pricing on the new tournament ball, as well as practice balls and pressureless balls.

The Gamma ProTour tournament ball represents the most significant enhancement in tennis ball technology in 80 years. This evolution was made possible by the development of THINTEX™ Technology allowing for the combination of an ultra-thin core wall and super high pressure. The combination of these factors translates into unparalleled performance on the court.

The Gamma ProTour is not a clever marketing campaign, based on false technology or simply relying on the strength of a brand. It is based on real technology and has performed better in the lab and on the court than any current tournament ball. Gamma is so confident in the superiority of the ball that the ProTour is the first and only ball to offer a no-risk money-back guarantee.

“I have finally achieved my aim of developing the world’s best playing tennis ball,” said Dr. Harry Ferrari, founder of Gamma Sports. Ferrari, a nuclear scientist who developed the ProTour with Tom Sullivan, continued, “We’re proud to have PTR as our partner and have the best teaching pros in the world playing and teaching with the ProTour.”

The ProTour tennis ball, which was used at the PTR $25,000 Championships in February, will be available in April 2006, conforms to all USTA and ITF requirements for use in all sanctioned tournaments and matches. The ball is available in regular and extra duty. PTR members also receive free shipping on pre-booked orders of 10 cases or more.

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 12,000 members in 123 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
