HEAD Introduces Team Airflow

05/31/06 - Phoenix, AZ - Prominent women from the tennis industry have come together across the country to be part of HEAD’s new Team Airflow. These women are experts in their field, and they know what women want and need in performance tennis equipment.

Leading this prestigious team of women is tennis legend Steffi Graf. For nearly 17 years Steffi dominated the professional circuit and is the only player in history to achieve the illustrious Golden Slam, winning all four Grand Slam singles tournaments and an Olympic Gold medal within the same calendar year. Steffi exemplifies the ambition, character and passion of a true champion. Today, the married mother of two remains passionate about her game, and enjoys finding a way to share her enthusiasm for the sport with others.

Her insight into the development of the new Airflow products has been invaluable” said HEAD/Penn Racquet Sport’s VP of Sales & Marketing Kevin Kempin.

Joining Graf on Team Airflow is a select group of women that represent key areas of expertise within the tennis industry. Pam Austin, Director of Tennis at the Riviera Tennis Club in LA brings over 20 years of teaching experience to the development team while Joan Dziena offers her expertise from the retail side where she is the Merchandising Director at the USTA National Tennis Center Pro Shop & Grand Central Racquet Stringers in NYC.

Julie Jilly, Vice President of the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and Team Airflow member said “Women are always asking if a racquet can actually make their game better. Now HEAD has technologies developed specifically for a woman's unique physical attributes allowing women to really maximize performance!”

Beth Arnoult-Ritthaler, ranked No. 1 Wheelchair Player in the US and 11th in the world, brings her competitive spirit and determination to Team Airflow. Vicki Ochoa, buyer at Biscayne Tennis, is thrilled to be part of a team that is “really benefiting women and getting the right product in their hands.”

Rounding out Team Airflow is Renee Heckler from the Unites States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA). “HEAD really gets it. They went out, did the research, and produced women’s racquets that focus on true performance. Thousands of teaching pros across the US will be using and recommending Airflow racquets“

This highly respected group of women – teaching pros, competitors, and retail experts, will continue to team with HEAD in developing future women’s products. They are the inspiration behind HEAD’s new Airflow racquet line.
