10/18/06 - The Tennis Channel, the only 24-hour, television-based multimedia destination dedicated to tennis and the healthy, active lifestyle that surrounds it, today announced the appointment of two executives to its marketing team: Neil Roberts, director, marketing, and Lauren Leder, director, on-air creative. Additionally Kate Varley has been promoted to director, short-form content and special projects, from her previous position as senior producer, on-air promo. All report directly to Faye Walker, vice president, marketing, The Tennis Channel.

“This is an exciting time for both our network and the marketing department,” said Walker. “The addition of French Open coverage and expanded distribution, coupled with a growing base of advertisers and corporate partners, have added to the output demands on our marketing team. Neil and Lauren’s experience will help us continue to deliver innovative programs for The Tennis Channel and our partners. Likewise, Kate has been an integral part of the marketing department’s success thus far, and will play an increasingly vital role with her well-deserved promotion.”

Roberts comes to The Tennis Channel from the marketing trade group PROMAX&BDA, where as vice president of marketing he created tie-in promotions and sponsorship opportunities for various partnerships, the News and Daytime Emmy Awards among them. He also worked for entertainment industry publication Variety and produced events for both the Cannes and Sundance Film festivals. Roberts previously spent seven years at Roadshow Entertainment, the entertainment division of Village Roadshow Corporation, a leading international media and entertainment company.

Leder worked at iNDemand Networks in New York City, where she was a writer/producer and launched two high-definition networks: INHD and INHD2. In her new position she will oversee all on-air promotions at The Tennis Channel. Leder has also worked as a writer/producer at CBS, ESPN and numerous other media companies.

Joining The Tennis Channel in 2003, Varley has more than 15 years experience as an award-winning writer/producer for such clients as King World Productions, Bungalow 3, GSN and Hallmark Channel. She was also a writer/producer at Price WaterhouseCoopers, where she created corporate videos and events, and at WPIX-TV in New York City and WKRN-TV in Nashville.

The Tennis Channel (www.thetennischannel.com) is the only 24-hour, television-based multimedia destination dedicated to tennis and the healthy, active lifestyle that surrounds it, and forges the personal connection between the professionals on the court and the game’s millions of aficionados. The home for people who watch, play and live their passions through tennis, the network is a hybrid of comprehensive sports coverage, health and fitness programming, pop culture and entertainment access, and lifestyle and travel information. The Tennis Channel is the most concentrated single-sport network in television, with telecast rights to Roland Garros (the French Open), the US Open Series, ATP Masters Series, top-tier Sony Ericsson WTA Tour championship competitions, Davis Cup by BNP Paribas, Fed Cup and Hyundai Hopman Cup, the combination of which offer the compelling, ongoing story of the game’s most dramatic rivalries, energetic personalities and emotional, yearlong journey.
