09/06/06 - Bordentown, NJ – Prince Tennis announced today the signing of two of the brightest young stars in tennis. Just a week after signing up-and-coming American Sam Querrey, Prince has announced the signing of Russian Evgeny Korolev and Spaniard Carlos Boluda to multi-year endorsement deals.
As all eyes shift to the future of tennis, the partnerships with Korolev and Boluda, along with the recent signing of Querrey, reaffirm Prince’s commitment to helping the next generation of players reach their potential.
Korolev began the year at No. 188 in the ATP rankings but has risen to No. 118 since switching to the O3 Tour. In previous matches, Korolev surprised the tennis world by qualifying for Masters Series events in Barcelona and Monte Carlo and reaching the quarterfinals in Bastad and Marseille. On the Futures Circuit, Korolev reached the semifinals at Futures events in France and Germany.
“Evgeny is a true competitor,” said Tom Russ, manager of global tour players at Prince. “His powerful baseline game will suit him well on many surfaces and throughout his development.”
Boluda, a tennis prodigy at age 13, is the No. 2 ranked player in the European Tennis Association, and he won the 14-and-unders at the 2006 European Championships as well as the 12–and-unders at the 2005 Nike Junior Tour World Championships.
“Carlos has great hands and the speed to match,” Russ said. “In a few short years, he has proven to be an amazing athlete with great skill and ambition. Prince will be right by his side as his game develops.”
Both Korolev and Boluda play the O3 Tour and are further testaments to the success players have seen after switching to O3. More than 75 players on the ATP and WTA tours play O3, and more than 50 percent of professional tennis players who have play-tested Prince’s O3 Technology have made the switch.
On August 24, Prince signed Sam Querrey to a multi-year endorsement deal. Querrey, who will switch to the O3 Hybrid Tour after the U.S. Open, has made a great leap up the ATP rankings, beginning the year ranked No. 756 and rising to No. 177. He has had solid showings in Futures events and an upset of veteran Alberto Martin in the first round of the Pilot Pen Tennis Open. Most recently, he defeated Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany in the first round of the U.S. Open.
