04/05/07 - Lee Tennis, the maker of Har-Tru®, announced today the Westside Tennis and Fitness, where the 2007 U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships are being held, has converted its red clay tennis courts to Har-Tru courts to provide their tournament players, pros and members alike with an ultimate playing experience. The 2007 U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships are slated for April 9 – 15 in Houston, TX., and may mark the final tournament, in which top tennis players have been convening since 2001 to compete in Texas on an annual basis.

“Our players are really excited about playing on the Har-Tru courts since the surfaces provide them with a much better experience; increasing slide comfort while minimizing risk for injuries,” said Kim Barnett, facilities manager Westside Tennis and Fitness in Houston, TX. “We’re also thrilled about our investment in the courts as they’re easy to maintain and are aesthetically pleasing. They look great!”

John Welborn, director of business development at Lee Tennis, said “We are honored that Westside Tennis and Fitness decided to invest in the game by converting their courts to Har-Tru to ensure maximum playability for this major tournament.” Welborn added, “At Lee Tennis, we are always seeking to provide the latest and best array of clay surfacing options for those who love the game of tennis by providing expert advice, quality products, and partnering with world renowned pros like Jose Higueras who are committed to advancing the clay court tennis experience.”

The 2007 U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships’ highlight includes three of the world's top ten players - Andy Roddick ranked 3rd, James Blake ranked 6th, and Tommy Haas ranked 9th, in addition to the top ten players in American tennis. The USMCCC has been held at Westside Tennis and Fitness since 2001, and has featured tennis greats Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras. This year's event is the last chance to see top tennis players together in one tournament in Texas. For more information, visit www.mensclaycourt.com
