04/13/07 - The United States Professional Tennis Association, the world’s leader in tennis-teaching certification, is excited to announce seven metropolitan areas and facilities as regional testing centers. The seven areas and facilities are:
• Metro Atlanta – Peachtree City Tennis Center, Peachtree City, Ga.
• Metro Chicago – Rush-Copley Healthplex, Aurora, Ill.
• Metro Houston – USPTA World Headquarters, Houston
• Metro Los Angeles – Braemar Country Club, Los Angeles
• Metro Miami – The Oaks at Boca Raton, Boca Raton, Fla.
• Metro New York City – USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
• Metro Washington, D.C./Baltimore – Tennis Center at College Park, College Park, Md.
“Selecting major metro areas with populations of at least 3 million people, strategically placed geographically around the United States, allows the USPTA regional testing centers to be available to the greatest number of potential applicants,” said Tom Daglis, USPTA national vice president and chairman of USPTA’s Testing and Certification Committee.
These regional testing centers will offer the Certification Exam, including the Certification Review Course, written exam, grip exam, private lesson, group lesson, stroke analysis and stroke production tests. In addition to exams at the regional testing centers, USPTA will continue to host testing opportunities at other sites.
“The USPTA regional testing centers will enhance the certification and testing process because the centers will allow us to offer regularly scheduled testing at the same place numerous times each year," said Daglis. "Our testing hub system represents the first step in modernizing the entire certification process."
Beginning May 1, USPTA will offer a limited number of no-cost upgrades only at the regional testing centers. These upgrades will be offered on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please check the USPTA Web site for times and dates, which will be announced soon. For more information, contact the USPTA Membership Department at membership@uspta.org or (800) 877-8248.
