USPTA Members Chosen to Chair USTA Tennis Councils

02/05/07 - The United States Tennis Association recently announced its 2007-2008 Volunteer Council Staff with individual terms that started at the beginning of 2007. Several members of the United States Professional Tennis Association were named as council chairs in various USTA categories.
The following USPTA members were named to the USTA Community Tennis Council. Billie Jean King, an honorary member of the USPTA since 1991, was named chair of tennis in the public parks. Tommy Gray, a USPTA Master Pro since 1989 and a member since 1984, was announced as the league chair. The wheelchair chair is Randy Ortwein, who has been a USPTA wheelchair certified professional since 2000.
The following USPTA members were named to the USTA Player Development Council. Todd Ellenbecker, the new sports science chair, has been a USPTA Pro 1 since 1990. David T. Porter, Ed. D., the USPTA immediate past president, Master Pro since 2004 and Pro 1 since 1986, was named collegiate co-chair.
Under the Administration/Operations Council, Doug Wenger, a USPTA Pro 2 since 1999, was announced as the information technology chair. Last but not least, the new Olympic chair under the Professional Tennis Council is Bob Greene, who has been a USPTA Pro 1 since 1986.
