Speakers Added To PTR Symposium

01/25/07 - Hilton Head Island, SC -- Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) announced today that several speakers, including Jose Higueras and Jay Berger have been added to the prestigious faculty of its International Tennis Symposium. The annual event, which will be held February 17-23, 2007, will be held at PTR Headquarters on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Jose Higueras won 16 top level singles titles and reached a world ranking of #6. After retiring as a player, Higueras became a successful coach, leading Jim Courier to the #1 ranking in 1992. Currently he coaches Dmitry Tursunov. Higueras is speaking courtesy of Lee Tennis. Jay Berger is on the USTA Player Development staff as a National Coach for Men’s Tennis. Berger represented the USA in Davis Cup and was the Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach at the University of Miami.

Higueras and Berger join nearly 60 of the most notable speakers in the tennis industry including Dede Allen, Kirk Anderson, Pat Etcheberry, Dr. Allen Fox, Dr. Jim Loehr, Tim Mayotte and Anne Pankhurst. Subject matter ranges from tennis business to wheelchair tennis instruction. The Symposium attracts nearly 1,000 tennis teachers and coaches from more than 50 countries.

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 12,000 members in 123 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
