03/20/07 - Bordentown, NJ – When 19-year-old, Californian Sam Querrey takes to the court this week in Miami for the Sony Ericsson Open, he will be carrying a new stick in his bag – the O3 Hybrid Tour. The hard-hitting American up-and-comer is the latest player on a long list of ATP and WTA touring pros to make the switch to O3 technology and utilize its benefits. Querrey, who is currently ranked #69 in the world, nearly knocked off world’s number #3 Nikolay Davydenko last week at Indian Wells and comes into the tournament playing some of his best tennis.

The 6’6” American, a fan favorite because of his huge ground strokes and powerful serve, is looking to keep his momentum going in Miami.

“Things have been going well for me in the last few weeks. I feel very good about where I am at and where I am heading with my game,” said Querrey. “It was definitely a thrill to be able to play so well in front of so many friends and family last week in the desert. I only wish that I could have pulled out the “W”.”

Querrey, who had been playing the Prince Tour Diablo previously, made the switch to the O3 Hybrid Tour in order to generate additional racquet speed, and take advantage of the racquets larger sweet spot as well. With the switch, he joins other touring pros Shahar Peer and recent PLO doubles champion Lisa Raymond who also use the racquet.

“I like the solid feeling of the Tour Diablo, but can generate even more speed on my groundies and serve with O3 technology,” said Querrey. “This racquet is perfect for me because it combines the feel of a traditional racquet, like my Diablo, with the benefits of O3.”It feels great and, for me, it just works. I am excited to get out there with it in Miami.”

Why Are They Switching?

The revolutionary, visible technology which replaces traditional pin-sized string holes, with giant O-ports offers numerous benefits including improved aerodynamics and a measurably larger sweetspot. The result is a racquet that allows players, of all levels, the opportunity to hit their best shots, more often. Nearly 60% of touring pros who have tested an O3 racquet have ended up making the switch – an incredible rate among very particular professional athletes. In only two short years, over 75 ATP and WTA players have picked up an O3 racquet and, more impressive, nearly every one has improved their ranking considerably. Daniela Hantuchova who recently picked up the O3 White, saw near immediate success making an inspired run to win last weeks Pacific Life Open, her second career title.

Here is what a few other players had to say about O3 and making the switch:

Nikolay Davydenko
Ranking Before: #20
Ranking After: #3
“It is simple. My O3 Tour is helping me play better. I am serving and returning better, more consistently, on every surface. And my ranking improvement backs that up.”

Maria Sharapova
Ranking Before: #4
Ranking After: #1
“I switched to the O3 White because it’s faster through the air. I was having problems reaching shots that weren’t in my range. With faster racquet head speed and a larger sweet spot, my range has expanded, and I feel like I can reach everything.”

Paul Goldstein
Ranking Before: #202
Ranking After: #54
“I had no idea how much O3 would help my game. I’ve been on the tour for nine years and the O3 Tour helped me move from 202 to 54 in the rankings.”

Shahar Peer
Ranking Before: #45
Ranking After: #16
“It’s not easy switching racquets as a touring pro. The Hybrid Tour was a different story. I’ve had great success with the racquet and won my first two WTA tour titles after switching.”

Jelena Jankovic
Ranking Before: #48
Ranking After: #9
“My game and confidence have improved dramatically since I picked up O3. The O3 Red gives me more power and helps me maintain ball control. That combination is key to playing my best tennis.”
