USTA Presents Seena Hamilton with Special Award

Award recognizes Hamilton’s lifetime contributions to tennis

05/30/07 - White Plains, N.Y.--The USTA recognized Seena Hamilton, a pioneer in junior tennis promotion as well as a well known PR and event marketing consultant, for her many contributions made to junior tennis through the Easter Bowl. Hamilton was presented the achievement award at the 40th Easter Bowl at Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, CA.

As the founder of the Easter Bowl, Hamilton has brought many important issues to public attention through publicity and her one hour TV special. Hamilton has brought to the Easter Bowl the same media exposure she brought to corporate clients in sport and entertainment created the event in New York in 1968.

Just about every American Grand Slam tennis player has been showcased in the Easter Bowl since its inception in 1968, when Harold Salomon beat Jimmy Connors. The Easter Bowl has been noted for the hospitality given to players and parents, and for the seminars and surveys that Hamilton has used to bring important issues in tennis to public attention. In addition, Hamilton has assisted players in reducing expenses by raising several hundred thousand dollars through various sponsors, including American Airlines, which helps with travel costs. She also produces and syndicates a one hour TV special covering the Easter Bowl, the only one in junior tennis.

Moreover, according to Rich Harshbarger, director of marketing of the Desert Sun, the tournament generates close to 4,000 room nights and almost $2 million dollars to the area.
