Tennis Industry Association to Honor Top 50 Tennis Welcome Centers
Top U.S. tennis facilities to be recognized for outstanding service
in promoting the sport and in delivering programs.

11/07/07 - Hilton Head, S.C.--Is your tennis facility a leader in delivering tennis programs and providing service in promoting the sport? The Tennis Industry Association, the U.S. Tennis Association, and Racquet Sports Industry magazine are once again looking for the “Top 50 Tennis Welcome Centers” in the U.S. These are the tennis facilities—public and private—that are leading the charge in the growth of the sport by providing well-rounded programs to new and current players of all ages and abilities.

Currently, there are more than 2,000 official Tennis Welcome Centers in the U.S. (to find a TWC near you, visit www.TennisWelcomeCenter.com or www.GrowingTennis.com). To
be a Top 50 choice, a facility needs to exhibit excellent participation figures involving new and returning players, support of industry programs and community tennis development, and be active with other Tennis Welcome Center facility requirements, among other criteria.
“The Top 50 TWCs represent the best of the best,” says TIA Executive Director Jolyn de Boer. “The staff at these facilities create a positive tennis experience for people in their communities, and the facilities serve a vital role in delivering tennis.” Facilities named to the Top 50 list will be honored with a plaque that they can display. They will also receive special marketing material and logos to use on their website, in newsletters, emails, press releases, and other communications.
The Tennis Welcome Center initiative—backed by all sectors of the tennis industry, from governing bodies and manufacturers to media, retailers, teaching organizations, pro groups and facilities--has played a leading role in the sport's growth. Pro player Maria Sharapova lends her endorsement and image to the program, which is free to tennis facilities that wish to support industry efforts to grow participation through specific programming and marketing.
“Tennis Welcome Centers are a critical connection point between all of the tennis industry stakeholders invested in growing the game and the hundreds of thousands of new players who are attracted to the sport each year," says Mark McMahon, USTA National Manager for Tennis Welcome Centers.
