Michigan’s Alex Palladino and Amy Sun Win Singles Titles at the USPTA Indoor Championships

11/30/07 - Alex Palladino of Grand Rapids, Mich., captured the men’s open title at the $2,500 United States Professional Tennis Association Indoor Championships held November 9-11 at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich. Palladino defeated Richard Beijer of Novi, Mich., 6-1, 6-1, for the championship. Amy Sun of Big Rapids, Mich., won the women’s open title by going undefeated in round-robin play. Sun defeated Marilyn Baker of Eagan, Minn., 6-2, 6-1.
Richard Beijer of Novi, Mich., and Dana Gill of Cupertino, Calif., earned the men’s open doubles title by going undefeated in round-robin play. Beijer and Gill defeated Joseph Van Deinse of Williamsburg, Mich., and Ryan Dloski of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich., 6-2, 6-1.
The tournament was the last in the series of national tournaments on several court surfaces that the USPTA offered to its members as part of the USPTA National Surface Championship Series for 2007.
