09/20/07 - VERSUS and The Tennis Channel will provide complete coverage of the 2007 Davis Cup Semifinals between USA and Sweden September 21-23, beginning at 12 p.m. ET each day.
Leading team USA is Davis Cup Captain Patrick McEnroe a former singles player who has held the position of captain since 2000. Representing the USA team are world No. 1 ranked doubles players Bob and Mike Bryan, who have won 41 tour titles, including back-to-back Australian Opens in 2006 and 2007 and Wimbledon in 2006. Rounding out the team are top-ten ranked singles players Andy Roddick and James Blake. Roddick, currently ranked No. 5, recently finished an impressive run at the 2007 U.S. Open where he made it to the quarterfinals before losing to No. 1 seed Roger Federer who later went on to win the tournament. James Blake, ranked sixth in the world, has been successful in 2007 after advancing to the third round at Wimbledon and the fourth round at the U.S. Open.
The USA team has reached the semifinals for the second consecutive year, with a first-round win over Czech Republic and a quarterfinal victory over Spain. Despite winning the Davis Cup 31 times, the USA squad has not won the Cup since 1995 when they defeated Russia in the final. The USA team finished second to Spain in 2004.
