08/01/08 - Hilton Head Island, SC - - Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) is pleased to present an Instructing Wheelchair Tennis Workshop at the Bitsy Grant Tennis Center in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 21, 2008. The workshop will be conducted by Steve Keller, PTR Director of Development, and PTR Certified Instructor and competitive wheelchair player Harlon Matthews.

The Instructing Wheelchair Tennis Workshop is open to all certified tennis teachers who want to learn the nuances of teaching tennis to people in wheelchairs. The workshop was initially designed to train the PGA Superstore’s tennis teaching staff, who is currently conducting free wheelchair tennis clinics on their in-store courts. PGA Superstores are promoting wheelchair tennis and encouraging wheelchair players to compete in what once were entirely able-bodied tennis leagues.

The PTR Foundation in partnership with LegsDontWork.com is proud to help fund this important workshop and to assist in the effort to increase opportunities for wheelchair players. PTR has been a strong proponent of wheelchair tennis and its integration into league play.

To register for the workshop, call PTR Headquarters at 800-421-6289 or visit www.ptrtennis.org

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 13,300 members in 122 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
