Wayne Bryan Named PTR Professional of the Year

02/29/08 - Hilton Head Island, SC - - Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) presented its annual awards this week during the 2008 PTR International Tennis Symposium. The event, which includes 60-plus on court and classroom presentations, a tennis trade show and $25,000 Championships is being held February 16-21, 2008, at Van der Meer Shipyard Racquet Club on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Wayne Bryan, of Camarillo, California, was named PTR Professional of the Year. Bryan heads up Kids Days for the ATP and USTA in America. He also conducts on court interviews, intros, tennis clinics, television commentary and other emcee work for the ATP Tour and the Outback Champion Series. He is a frequent national clinician and speaker and makes numerous appearances each year as the front man for his two bands, The Wayne Bryan Band and The Bryan Brothers Band.

Bryan coached the Sacramento Capitals to the World TeamTennis Championship in 2002 and 2007. He was named the WTT Coach of the Year in 2004, 2005 and 2006. His twin sons, Mike and Bob, were the #1 doubles team in the world in 2003, 2005 and 2006, and are currently the world’s top ranked doubles team. They have captured 41 doubles titles, including the French Open in 2003, the US Open in 2005, the 2006 and 2007 Australian Open, and the 2006 Wimbledon Doubles Championships - a Career Grand Slam. They have won 14 Davis Cup matches, and clinched the 2007 Davis Cup for the USA.

Bryan founded and ran the Cabrillo Racquet Club, with numerous nationally ranked players and youngsters who were awarded Division I tennis scholarships. Cabrillo won 32 SoCal Junior Team Tennis Titles and 10 State JTT Championships during Wayne's 25 years at the club. Cabrillo was named the Southern California Club of the Year in 1995. Brayn was the #1 player and captain of his U.C. Santa Barbara Tennis Team in the late 60s. His book, Raising Your Child to be a Champion in Athletics, Arts and Academics, is a must read for every parent. He is a dynamic speaker who can entertain, motivate, educate and is passionate about our sport.

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 13,000 members in 122 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
