06/19/08 - Jolyn de Boer, Executive Director of the Tennis Industry Association, announced today that Amanda Becker has joined the TIA staff as Public Relations and Communications Coordinator, effective immediately. In this newly created position, Becker will oversee the organization’s public relations and communications campaign, distributing information to TIA member organizations and media outlets worldwide. She also will help in planning and managing TIA events, forums, and trade shows.
The Tennis Industry Association, based in Hilton Head, S.C., is a non-profit trade organization dedicated to promoting the growth and economic vitality of tennis. The TIA is the information source and clearinghouse for tennis news supplied to TIA members, tennis publications and the mainstream media, in cooperation with the U.S. Tennis Association.
“Amanda will be a valuable asset to the TIA team,” said de Boer. “She is an avid tennis player and has a great love of the game, and she is committed to helping us grow our organization and the sport of tennis. In her new role, she’ll be a key player in spreading the news about the great programs and initiatives in this industry.”
Becker, a recent Media Studies graduate from the College of Charleston, has been involved with tennis for many years. Originally from Lakeville, Pa., she joins the TIA with a background in tennis. Most recently, she completed a PR/Communications internship with Kiawah Island Golf Resort and the Family Circle Cup, a women’s professional tennis event in Charleston, S.C. She also has a wealth of on-court experience, having played collegiate tennis at Gonzaga University as well as the College of Charleston, where she captained the Cougars in her senior year.
“The TIA has been instrumental to the growth of tennis for more than three decades,” said Becker. “I really look forward to helping this important organization continue to grow and serve its members and the industry as a whole.”
