03/06/08 - Nwe York--Tennis Week, an IMG Publication, and StarGames announced today that TennisWeek.com has become the Official Website of The NetJets Showdown. The much anticipated exhibition between Pete Sampras and Roger Federer will be contested on the evening of March 10 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Beginning this week, the redesigned TennisWeek.com site will be the home to all things Sampras-Federer with original video content previewing the match, editorial predictions and pre-match analysis as well as interviews with tennis legends on who is the best ever. On the night of the event, TennisWeek.com will go behind the scenes at MSG and capture all of the buzz and excitement of the Showdown creating a blockbuster video review of the big night to debut on March 11.
As part of TennisWeek.com's sponsorship of the NetJets Showdown, the site will create and sponsor a series of trivia questions that will be viewable on the MSG Jumbotron during match changeovers. TennisWeek.com will also produce video content for fans to view at MSG prior to the Match.
"TennisWeek.com is quickly becoming a go-to tennis destination for fans during big events, and as the NetJets Showdown gained momentum we knew we wanted to be there," said Tennis Week Publisher Randy Master. "These are arguably the two greatest to ever play the game, battling it out in the world's most famous arena. We look forward to partnering with StarGames to bring our unique perspective and comprehensive online coverage to the event."
Complementing TennisWeek.com's thorough reporting from MSG, Tennis Week Magazine will wrap-up all of the action from this classic duel in its Sony Ericsson Open Preview issue which hits newsstands March 26. Editor at Large Richard Evans will be on hand at the Garden and will cover the Event for both TennisWeek.com and Tennis Week Magazine.
Dubbed “A Battle for Tennis History”, The NetJets Showdown is the fourth exhibition between the 2 greats with Federer winning the first two and Sampras winning the last match in Macao, China on November 24th. This will be their first time playing each other on North American soil.
