11/18/08 - The Climb for Cancer Foundation has teamed up with the USTA Florida Section Foundation for a charitable tennis event at Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club in Largo and the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort during USTA Florida’s 59th Annual Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation Weekend, Dec. 5-7. In addition to recognizing USTA Florida volunteer successes during its annual awards luncheon and breakfast dedicated to deserving tennis volunteers throughout the state, the weekend will include a Beach Party for invited volunteers and guests, a Live and Silent Auction, amazing raffle prizes and a Dinner Dance.

Additionally, the weekend will feature an Inaugural Pro-Am Tennis Event presented by Raymond James, including past and present tennis greats like MaliVai Washington, John Isner, Jay Berger and Jesse Levine on Dec. 6. The two charitable organizations have joined together in an effort to raise awareness and resources to benefit cancer research and patient support at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, as well as providing quality tennis opportunities for all Floridians.

The local community is invited to attend the Tennis Pro-Am and may also attend the Beach Party, Dinner Dance and Auction by registering online at www.cfc-foundation.org by Nov. 26. A $50 donation is being accepted by the foundations for a chance to win the ultimate 2009 US Open experience (two invitations to the USTA President’s box, two round trip airline tickets to New York and a two night stay in New York City; dining in the President’s box and transfers are included). Second prize includes two courtside box seat tickets to the 2009 US Open and third prize is a two night stay at the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, Fla.

Only a small supply of tickets remain, so contact Linda Matthews at Matthews@florida.usta.com or 386.671.8940.
