09/05/08 - Newport, RI--Earlier this morning at the annual Board of Directors meeting in New York City, the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum announced the appointment of Christopher E. Clouser as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors. Clouser succeeds Hardwick Simmons, who served as Chairman for the past four years.
Clouser, a member of the Hall’s Associate Board since 2001, joined the International Tennis Hall of Fame’s Board of Directors in 2004. In 2005, he was elected Chairman of the Hall of Fame’s Executive Committee. He also chairs the Hall’s Tournament Committee, while serving as Tournament Chairman of the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, an ATP event, and the Hall of Fame Champions Cup, the Newport stop on the Outback Champions Series tour. Clouser also chairs the Scholarship Committee and will serve as ex-officio member of all committees.
Clouser is currently Chairman of Griffin International Companies, whose principal offices are in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Shenzhen, China. Griffin International is a leading supplier, manufacturer, importer and marketer of a wide variety of consumer goods and electronic products for top North American retailers, including Best Buy, Target, Disney, Circuit City, Toys R Us, Dicks Sporting Goods, Wal-Mart and other major retailers.
In addition, Clouser is the former Chairman of ATP Properties and past Chairman of the ATP Foundation. The ATP is the governing body of men’s professional tennis and representative of sport’s top athletes competing in sixty-four tournaments played in thirty-one countries.
Prior to joining the ATP and throughout his 25-year corporate career, Clouser held senior executive positions with Burger King Brands, Travelocity/Preview Travel, the Minnesota Twins Major League Baseball Club, Northwest Airlines Corp., Bell Atlantic, Sprint and Hallmark Cards, Inc. Clouser has served as director of numerous corporate and charitable boards. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Taste of the NFL (Hunger Related Events), First Serve, Griffin International, TransAmerica Retirement, WorkGiant Holdings, the Los Cabos Children’s Foundation and D & D Holdings.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Clouser resides in Wellington, Florida.
