09/12/08 - Steve Timperley, CEO of Tencap Tennis, LLC has been named one of Ingram’s “20 in Their Twenties.” The Kansas City based magazine recognized the twenty most entrepreneurial figures in the Kansas City region who are still in their twenties. “It is a great honor to be named to the inaugural 20 in their Twenties,” said Timperley. “There are some very impressive and talented entrepreneurs on the list, and we’ll all look forward to watching each other’s entrepreneurial ventures grow.”
A native South African who spent most of his life playing tennis and was recruited to a Division One University in the States, Steve has experienced the sport as a player, coach and tennis director. This tennis experience combined with a graduate degree in entrepreneurship makes this the perfect business for Steve. “I have been passionate about tennis all my life, and have more recently developed a passion for entrepreneurship. And now, I can enjoy both.”
Steve has spent the last year working with tennis pros and technology partners to develop the highly anticipated Tencap Tennis Rating System and software. In addition to helping players earn more dynamic and accurate tennis ratings, the Tencap Rating System also acts as a Handicapping System, helping players level the playing field against stronger or weaker opponents. Tencap will provide tennis clubs and leagues with the ultimate event-management and player-management tools, all tied into the Rating System. During the week of September 15th, Tencap Tennis will officially launch their new product at the USPTA World Conference in La Quinta, California.
Within the next two months, Tencap will also be launching a free social networking portal where every tennis player in the world can get their own Tencap Tennis Rating. The company is setting up to make some big strides in the tennis industry.
“With our technology partners helping us create the best event management software on the market, we believe the Tencap Rating System and the technologies behind it will be the most significant development in tennis since the demise of the wooden racquet” Timperley said. Considering what the handicap has done for golf, he could be right. ‘What’s your handicap?’ is a simple question that millions of golfers ask before teeing off. It seems like tennis players should be asking a similar question before their next match … ‘What’s Your Tencap?’
