California’s Mlynarik WIns Singles Title at USPTA Championships

09/19/08 - LA QUINTA, CALIF. – Zbynek Mlynarik of Chatsworth, Calif. claimed the men’s open title at the $30,000 USPTA International Championships Thursday at the La Quinta Resort and Club tennis courts in La Quinta, Calif. Mlynarik, the No. 1 seed, earned the championship title by defeating No. 2 seeded Adrians Zguns from Orlando, Fla., 7-5, 7-6.
The championships, open only to USPTA-certified tennis professionals, were played as part of the USPTA’s World Conference on Tennis. The conference is scheduled Sept. 15-20 at La Quinta Resort and Club in La Quinta, Calif. It includes the international championships, close to 40 seminars and courses, a buying show, awards presentation, silent auction of tennis and sports memorabilia and more. It is attended by nearly 1,500 tennis-teaching professionals, industry leaders, manufacturers and media.
