Sign up today for the USTA Flex League in West Palm Beach. USTA Flex Leagues, which the USTA officially launched in Florida earlier this year, packages all the thrills of organized league tennis into a flexible schedule so everyone, regardless of time constraints and ability, can play. Registration for the league is open now and runs until Oct. 31. The league offers an eight week season to both USTA members and non-members. Cost is $25 for USTA members and $35 for non-USTA members.
“The United States Tennis Association has selected West Palm Beach as one of the first ten metro areas nationwide to offer USTA Flex Leagues, a program that caters to players who need flexibility to schedule their tennis around other commitments and also to the frequent player who desires more matches more often,” said Marilyn Sherman, National Manager, USTA Flex Leagues. “West Palm Beach is an ideal location due to its large tennis population and number of tennis courts available year round and joins New York, Chicago, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Miami, Phoenix, and Orlando as first year markets.”
The West Palm Beach USTA Flex League offers men’s and women’s singles and doubles, with a variety of levels depending on registration applicants. Match play begins Nov. 3 and ends Jan. 16.
Susan Ruede, USTA Florida Local Tennis Organizer, will oversee the inaugural program in West Palm Beach and expects the flex league to jumpstart USTA League Tennis growth in Palm Beach, St. Lucie, Indian River, Martin and Okeechobee counties.
“USTA Flex Leagues are going to be the jump that gets busy tennis enthusiasts over to a conventional league, simply because the smell of competition and the ease of the new USTA Flex League.”
Players essentially have an entire season to complete their matches according to what best fits their schedule and choice of tennis facilities.
"This program will give adult and senior players of all ages and skill levels a chance to meet new players, rediscover the fun and fitness of playing singles, and potentially meet new teammates for leagues and tournaments," Sherman said. "Many players in the past have stated that they quit playing tennis because they didn’t have enough people to play with and this program definitely expands playing opportunities."
